Here is (fenora's) full guide to elementals. My good friend fenora who has spent quite some time editing the db to my private server has allowed me to post this to help all of you.

ITEM ID LAST 3 DIGITS: 049
the very last digit is the + of the weapon and the 2 before that is the elemental.
Lets say you want to make a +10 shard with poison (natural elemental) you would change the +49 to +50. But becareful making +10's with elemental because sometimes they come out kinda weird and do some strange things when you try to upgrade them.

ok for bow/dagger/spear 04 is poison, 08 is light, 07 is ice, and 06 is fire
for sword, 04 is fire, 06 is ice, 07 is light, 08 is poison
for axes 04 is ice, 06 is fire, 07 is light, 08 is poison
mace/staff, 04 is light, 19 is poison, 16 is flame, 17 is ice
and if the weapon is capable of having hp/mp abosrb, then for those weapons 21 is mp absorb, and 12 is hp absorb
4 would be the natural element, 6, 7 and 8 are the other 3 elements out of fire, ice, lightning and poison
